Position Summary
Essential Functions
• Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders • Lay out full scale drawings of pipe systems, supports, or related equipment, according to blueprints • Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints • Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading • Inspect, examine, or test installed systems or pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods • Secures pipe to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand tools and power tools • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience as a pipefitter • NCCER for pipefitter
Required Skills
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary • Ability and willingness to travel as required
