Field Service Technician1

Position Summary

Responsible for the on-site inspection, maintenance, diagnostic, and repair of all types of construction equipment and heavy machinery.  This position will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime and ensuring the safe, efficient operation of our tools and machinery across job sites.  ​​

Essential Functions

• Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, asphalt paving machines, skid steers, loaders). • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment safety and efficiency. • Respond promptly to service calls and emergencies across all job sites. • Maintain detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance. • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting the company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred. • Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record. • Candidates must have 5 plus years of experience with all types of equipment and heavy machinery and general knowledge of; diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, and air conditioning. • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tool • Possess a TWIC (preferred) and pass a background. • Must have own tools.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the repair/maintenance of equipment and heavy machinery,. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures. • Proficient in using specialized diagnostic software and basic computer programs. • Ability to interpret diagnostic codes and data to identify and resolve issues. • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and travel to job sites as needed. • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Ability to work non-routine hours and travel as required. • Physically fit and capable of lifting heavy objects and working in outdoor/industrial environments. • Ability to take direction and work as part of a team. • Commitment to safety and reliability.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, fumes, airborne particles, vibration from machinery, and around heavy traffic areas • Strong hand and finger dexterity required for handling rigging gear, securing loads, tying knots, and operating tools or hand signals. • Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver loads up to 50–75 pounds independently and heavier loads with team assistance or mechanical aids. • Work long hours moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another constantly perform repeating motions with feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers to include walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, gripping, climbing, depressing • Frequent bending, crouching, kneeling, and crawling required to attach rigging, inspect loads, and access confined or awkward spaces. • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read load charts, hand signals, and warning signs. • Adequate hearing to detect audible signals (horns, alarms, verbal commands) in noisy environments. • Ability to wear required and appropriate PPE equipment • Exposure to moderate and high noise levels in the workplace • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
