Position Summary
Essential Functions
• Shovel or pour abrasives of specified grade into machine hipper • Mask specified areas of object to protect from sandblasting • Regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle • Directs blast or flow of abrasive laden air, gas, or liquid over surface to be blasted • Reads work order or receives instructions verbally • Prepares surface, using method of appropriate for surface to painted • May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface • Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer • May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level • Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required • At least 3 years’ experience as a painter/blaster
Required Skills
• Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in construction • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance • Knowledge of arithmetic • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary • Ability and willingness to travel as required
