Position Summary
Essential Functions
• Check the forms that hold the concrete to see that they are properly constructed • Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch, depth, and align them • Spread, level, and smooth concrete using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float • Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge • Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required • At least 2 years’ experience in highway, bridge, sewer, and road construction
Required Skills
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of structures for highways, bridges, sewers, and roads • Knowledge of arithmetic, geometry, etc. • Knowledge of machines, tools, designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary • Ability and willingness to travel as required
