Position Summary
Essential Functions
• Selects cables, ropes, pull up, winches, blocks, and sheaves • Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials • Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools • Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment • Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wire ropes, and chains to crane hook • Attaches pull up and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole boom with bolts and clamps • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks • Generate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assigned • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Education Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED required • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience as a rigger • Must have an NCCER
Required Skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Able to work non-routine hours, when necessary
