Tire Tech – Corpus Christi, TX

Position Summary

The Tire Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing tires on automobiles, heavy trucks, construction equipment such as dozers, graders, sweepers, and other power-driven equipment.​

Essential Functions

• Perform tire installation and service TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitor System) • Rotate and balance tires • Repair and replace tires, tubes, rims, wheels, and other tire-related components of the vehicle • Inspect rims, hubs, studs, and lug nuts for excessive wear, tread condition, cracks, bead damage, and other indications of improper wheel alignment • Ability to operate a variety of hand, power, and shop tools including tire changers and balancing equipment • Oversee tire inventory • Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required • Preferred 3 to 5 years’ experience as a tire technician • Reliable transportation to and from work

Required Skills

• Working knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction • Ability to read and understand operating manuals • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information • Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance • Knowledge of TPMS electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming preferred. • Knowledge of arithmetic, and their applications • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively communicate with other employees • Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines • Able to work non-routine hours, when necessary • Ability and willingness to travel as required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another • Ability to operate job related tools • Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers • Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help • Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
